Will Sprint’s a900 Sync via iSync

Last week I talked about my likely move to Cingular because I am fed up with Sprint not providing phones that can sync with my PowerBook via Bluetooth. Then someone left a comment saying that you could sync an a900 with the Mac AddressBook if you jump through some hoops.

Does anyone have any idea what those hoops are? Is there any chance that the a900 will be upgraded to support SyncML?

Update: see More Info on Syncing a SprintPCS Samsung a900 with a Mac.

This is the only thing I’ve found that might work. This link might help.

You can sync contacts manually by using bluetooth sending “vcards” to each other.

This is the only supported form of “syncing” now

Unfortunately many sprint reps said yes you can “sync” but their “sync” meant through bluetooth going through some steps, not using “iSync” which would be 1000x easier

Out of the box no you can’t. Sprints a900 developer specs are also some what ambiguous as to whether or not the phone supports the actual SyncML, OR if the standard they are using is proprietary. The thing is the a900 is actually a better phone then the razr in terms of java capabilites and I like sprint’s plans so much better then anyone else. But every time I see a coworker sync iCal with their phone effortlessly I salivate. I’m thinking of doing som custom development work to make it happen. Any interest?
