Spam Changes The World

by Jackson Miller on August 21st, 2007

Will you ever open an “e-card” again? Probably not after all of the e-card spam that had been flooding the ether for the past couple of months. The sheer volume and ubiquity of e-card spam has to be killing legitimate e-card companies. If those companies want to survive they will have to adapt.

Now I am starting to get spam that is providing me with login information for services that I have never signed up for (and likely don’t really exist). That is going to change how people have to handle account registration / verification emails.

These are very real costs of spam that are really difficult to calculate. It is really unfortunate. I am starting to think that maybe we just get rid of email. Who needs it.
