About.me

There is a new service that I think is really cool called About.me. It allows individuals to set up a really stellar looking landing page with links to their various profiles on the internet. There is some integration with the bigger services so that visitors can see the most recent tweets, etc.

I learned about this new tool from Twitter. I think it was Scott Gordon who I first saw post information about their profile. I registered and followed them on twitter. With all of the meetings and such I am having these days I thought that a central profile like that would be a good addition to my online presence (plus it will help me maintain my position as the #1 search result for my name).

I really like my about.me profile (http://about.me/jacksonmiller).

Erica took that picture last summer on an island in the middle of Great Salt Lake. I wanted to have my picture taken with the buffalo (aka bison) because I had never seen them in person before.  Turns out a few months later I am creating a startup called Bizen (pronounced bison). I had forgotten all about that picture while naming the company and choosing a logo. Then while looking for a picture for the about.me background I found that. Too cool.

If you are curious about the bio, “acting as intermediatory between capital and labour”, it comes from the original French definition of entrepreneur. I think it is particularly fitting for what I am doing these days.
