I just saw a classic posting on Craigslist. It is probably not very interesting to non-developers. Some entrepreneurs will even think it sounds like a good deal. However, every coder with at least 1 project under their belt has met this guy:
I NEED A COLLEGE STUDENT WHO IS A COMPUTER GENIUS TO PARTNER WITH ME. SOMEONE THAT CAN AFFORD THE TIME AND EFFORT TO PUT INTO A HUGE MUSIC WEBSITE THAT WILL TAKE THE WORLD BY STORM. I CAN NOT PAY, BUT I HAVE THE IDEA, THE DOMAIN NAME, AND THE COPYWRITE IF YOU WANT TO WORK WITH ME I WILL MAKE YOU A PARTNER WITH A PERCENTAGE AGREED BY BOTH PARTIES. THIS IS A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR IDEA!
YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE CAPABILITIES TO BUILD A SITE THAT CAN BECOME THE NEXT MY SPACE (ONLY BETTER). IF YOU HAVE THAT KNOWLEDGE PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP!
OMG!!! Really?!?!? You have an idea of how to make MySpace better?!?! (Hint: everyone who has ever used MySpace has an idea of how to make it better)
The problem is that just by throwing this offer out there demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of what it takes to create “The Next MySpace”. Let alone the luck component.
It is tempting to respond to him and offer to do it for a 99/1 split (with me getting the 99% share). The thing is, even then it is not worth it.
There are good ideas out there, and I don’t want to discount the potential for a couple of people to come together and create something huge. It can happen. It just doesn’t happen like this.
BTW, when he says he has “THE COPYWRITE”, does he mean that he is a copywriter and can provide the copy for the site? Or does he mean that he owns a copyright for the name of this new brilliant application? I am betting on copyright because I would be shocked if he is actually planning on doing any real work like copywriting.

lol. Yep, you got that right.

I think it means he knows as much about copyright as he does about development. Or anything else, for that matter.
Hello Jackson :
You have a nice blog and good page rank but as an experienced web designer and SEO, I can tell you it takes alot of work to build such a website like myspace. That takes years of work.
I would recommend you use another approach to solicit programmers to help you. Since you are in the business world, it would be easy for you to get venture capital and then go from there.
- All the best.

@Daniel thanks for the compliments on my blog. I do have a question for you:
Did you read my post?
Either you didn’t read it or your reading comprehension is sorely lacking.
Just saying.
