I heard news today that New Home Sales have dropped to the lowest point in 13 years. When I read that I thought “Wow, this could be a really good time to by a new house”.
I took a gander at some of the offerings in and around Nashville. I know some designs and locations that could work well. One in particular piqued my interest.
That is when I learned that new homes may have a marketing problem. If you want anything deeper than perfunctory details about a new house you have to give up your email and phone number. Then they will send you an email with the same limited information as on the web. If you want anything deeper you will have to talk to a sales person.
I think there is a great market for a new home builder to implement something similar to a “Build your dream car now” tool similar to what all the auto companies have. Now is a perfect time for a new home builder to implement an online home configurator (and I am sure there is some builder out there somewhere who has already done this). It would be a great way to build a relationship with your (potential) customers without having a bunch of hungry salespeople ready to pounce on the first warm lead they smell.
