Travel Perks

I get a large number of perks for all the travel I have done in the past year. It is nice to get upgrades and such, but the best perks are the ones I get to share with friends and family.

Tonight Sabrina is flying to New York City to visit a friend. Thanks to miles she is flying for free. Thanks to my ridiculous number of flights on American Airlines she will be flying in First Class (with free food and drinks). While she is at the airport she will get to relax in the quiet atmosphere of the Admirals Club (with free snacks and non alcoholic beverages). The last night she is there she will have a free hotel room in Soho and it should be upgraded to a nicer room. While at the hotel room she will have access to the Concierge Lounge (with free snacks and drinks).

Being a stay at home mom with 4 kids is a tough job; it is a job with few perks. That is a pretty sweet way to travel. I never traveled like that prior to this job. It is all fancy and stuff. I gives me great pleasure to be able to share that with her. She gets a nice break and it will cost us next to nothing.

Are the perks worth the travel? No. Am I grateful for them? Absolutely.

Note: Travel perks are untaxed and are essentially kickbacks for how I choose to spend other people’s money. If you ask me, there is something weird about these kickbacks being acceptable.

I like to brag about the fact that we got new LCD TV using Marriott reward points.
