You know that statzen widget I talk about? I am starting to change the way I think about it.
You might have noticed that the widget has three tabs (only they don’t look much like tabs). The first one is contextual information about the page that is being viewed; it displays how many visitors have looked at that page/post and whether those visitors were reading the feed, the website, or both. The second tab is a tag cloud. The only thing unique about this tag cloud is that it is based on how much people read instead of how much the blogger writes. The third tab simply shows the currently most popular posts (website and feed combined).
This is like a little BI dashboard (for those that don’t know, I am a business intelligence consultant during the day). The business is the blog and the measure of success is the attention people give to that blog. The statzen widget is like a little mini application that shares some of this attention information with readers.

drop me an email some time… i’ve gotten pretty deep in some neat research on methods of multidimensional visual data representation, and i’d dig to talk to you about how you are planning on doing stuff… if you’ve got time
