Application Ideas

blog backup / archival
A simple app to take all posts from an RSS feed and send them to a storage account (gmail, amazon, etc). It should archive posts and comments. Then it should have tools to download the archive as a zip file or to rebuild the archives on a new blog via XML-RPC.

mobile product ratings
Take a picture of a UPC code with your camera phone, send it via MMS, and you get a text message reply. The reply should include consumer ratings as well as pricing from Amazon or Froogle. For extra credit the app should store all inquiries so that you can easily “remember” the products you saw in the store.

Those are free. (You get what you pay for).

Jackson, your second idea has been tried by several. Personally, I just don’t get it, and years ago, used to blog my confusion regularly: http://www.rexblog.com/2004/01/19/12080/ . I guess w/ higher-spead digital connections that provide instantaneous info, I could see some function, but… Of course, you have a foot in retail so you know better. I try to avoid shopping completely, so what do I know?
