When you travel as much as I do, managing all of the travel plans is a huge pain in the ass. One of the most frustrating things is that with all the travel sites on the internet, none of them do a good job of helping you manage your full itinerary.
I have been using Dopplr to share my trips with other people as well as to have an easy way for my trips to show up in my calendar on my Mac and my phone. It is great, but I have to manually manage it and I can’t really put in details like flight information and hotel information.
i have often wished that all the travel companies would provide APIs so that a really great itinerary service could take advantage of them. Then I found TripIt yesterday. It does exactly what I want and doesn’t require any APIs, passwords, etc to automatically suck down your travel information.
The brilliance of TripIt is that it parses confirmation emails and turns them into trips with all the pertinent information in one place. This works particularly well for me because I have a special email alias set up with all my travel profiles. I am just going to add the TripIt email address to the recipient list and it will all work completely transparent to me.
This could have really saved my ass yesterday.
