Fantasy Complicates Things

The Tennessee Titans are playing the Denver Broncos tonight. I am really looking forward to the game and want to see the Titans show up an play four quarters of football*. However, due to fantasy football I am going to be cheering with some caveats.

You see, I am in a fantasy football league that has been around for several years. We keep our best players year to year and it is a competitive league. Right now I am tied for first in my division; the other half of the tie is who I am playing this week. Right now he is winning by 5 points, but we both have players in tonight’s game. And that is where it gets complicated.

I have Brandon Marshall, a wide receiver for the Broncos. He has Jason Elam, the kicker for the Broncos. So as I am watching tonight’s game, I want the Titans to win, but I don’t want them to hold the Broncos to field goals. Instead I want to see Brandon Marshall in the end zone with the ball. Don’t get me wrong, I will be rooting for a blocked extra point, but I need touchdowns and not field goals. I want to see the Broncos moving the ball through the air and not on the ground. I want the Broncos to have a good game. I just want the Titans to have a better one.

Things sure can get complicated when you have a rich fantasy life.

I had a similar problem this week myself. I, being born & bred a Patriots fan (I will wait while you all boo!) played against a guy in fantasy football this week who had Randy Moss and I hoped that Tom Brady would throw to everyone/anyone else on the team. I was disappointed. A lot. Good luck in your game.
