Leopard comes out this month. I think that means it is time to wipe my hard drive clean and do a fresh install. Since I am going to do a fresh install, I am thinking about buying a bigger hard drive and turning my current hard drive into an external backup. I have a feeling I will appreciate the extra space with that new fancy built-in backup thingamajig called Time Machine.
Since I am going to upgrade the hard drive, I might as well hit RAM too. I had 2GB of RAM, but one gig just went bad (not sure if it was the chip or the slot). I have always heard that you want your RAM to be evenly distributed, but since there are no 1.5 GB RAM chips I am forced to either buy another 1GB chip or to buy a 2GB chip and have 3GB total. Unfortunately, I don’t know if having a lopsided 3GB will be noticeably better than having a matched 2GB. I can use all the RAM I can get since I like to run 10-20 programs and a virtual machine or two. (I just started my day and I have 12 apps and am trying to not run the VM since I only have 1GB RAM ATM).
Either way, for me, the release of Leopard means hardware upgrade time, not hardware replacement time. What about you?

I’m with you. I’m running an old iMac G5, though so rather than upgrading my internal HD, I’m just thinking about buying a newer, bigger external HD. Been needing to for some time.. also going to do a wipe and clean install.
I going to reset my laptop when I get Leopard. Do I have to unregister my itunes account before I reset my Computer.
