Bon Temps Gumbo

I sent out an email yesterday to invite a select group of statzen alpha users. I am moving forward even if I don’t know how I am going to get from here to where I want to go.

I have been in talks with a group that may be interested in funding statzen. Hopefully I will know more about that this week.

Last night I went out to my dad’s house to play a little music. He recently bought a hollowbody electric guitar and that prompted me to buy a fretless Jazz bass. I don’t feel very competent yet, but I sure had fun playing a little music again. He and I used to play regularly.

Check out this house for sale in the Indian Hills section of Louisville. It was my Aunt Rosie’s and then my Grandma’s. Now it is for sale and it is kind of weird. This is the first time a house has been in my life for decades and is now leaving the family. I almost want to eulogize it. Maybe later.

I don’t know if I have said this here before, but soon, in Murfreesboro, there will be a new Plato’s Closet opening up. It will be our second store. Very cool.

Zavier can read, and Jacob went potty.

I commandeered a digital camera from my wife. The phone on my Treo is not cutting it and my Flickr has been sorely lacking as a result. Too bad I don’t have a window seat this morning as I fly into New York.

I didn’t get to go to the Dierks Bentley (sp?) ride yesterday because I needed to watch the kids while Sabrina got her hair did. So what did I do? Left Sabrina with the kids and went to play golf with my uncle. It was nice to be out on the links. I am hoping to go Ride the Dragon this weekend, but that is a long day (2.5 hours each way to and from, plus the 320 curves that I have no idea how long it would take me to ride, plus gas stops and maybe a picnic lunch stop with a nice mountain view. 7 hours? 8 hours?)

Me, depressed? Not so much any more.

I met up with my cousin in NYC last week. He is on tour with Salvador Santana (Carlos Santana’s son). They are coming to Nashville in mid October. It was a good show and I will be writing more about it.

They are about to close the plane door so I better wrap up this post.

Curious about the title? “Gumbo” is sometimes used generically in NOLA to just mean “some of everything”. Things have been pretty god lately, so this post is post is kinda like “some of everything from the good times”.
