Right now the information we give to all those social sites (movie ratings, friendships, etc) is valuable. Some of the businesses use that information to directly generate revenue. Even for the ones that don't, the recognize the value. - What incentive would those companies have for giving up that info? For opening it up to an API that could be used by other programs?</description>
