Harleys in Nashville: Wishing I Was There

The Annual Tennessee H.O.G. Convention is in Nashville this week. H.O.G. stands for Harley Owners Group; a group I am a member of. I have been looking forward to this weekend since the dates were announced in January. Unfortunately, luck would have it that I am not in town this weekend. Instead of participating in the rumbling festivities on the streets in and around Nashville, I am going to be leading a training on Business Intelligence tools in NYC.

Don’t get me wrong, the gig this weekend in a great one. It is just that I would rather be enjoying the nice weather with two fists to the wind.

I don’t really know any other motorcycle enthusiasts in Nashville, so I always ride in solitude. Sometimes Sabrina hops on the back and we get to spend the time together. It is nice, but I have been wanting to do some group rides for a long time and never have. There was one time Sabrina and I tried to attend one, but when we got to the starting point at the Loveless Cafe we learned the ride had been canceled. To this day I have still never ridden in a group. This weekend was supposed to change that.

The weekend of August 24 there is a national convention in Knoxville that I am hoping to attend, but we will see. Of course, it is hard for me to justify taking a weekend to go off without the kids and ride motorcycles. Maybe I should take the kids (and the minivan) in addition to the bike. Regardless, this weekend would have been much more convenient.
