Earlier this month I speculated on the inclusion of Ruby as a general purpose scripting language in iWork 2007 and OSX Leopard. Part of the reasoning included an increased integration with Google Apps and the possibility of scripted office docs being able to easily run on both platforms.
So, what if we see an increased push towards services integration from Apple? What if they view Ruby as a way to help achieve that increased integration? Wouldn’t it then follow that writing iSync Conduits for Web Services using Ruby would be trivial?
I understand that I am proposing the combination of two long-shot ideas, but they do seem to form a somewhat complete picture. Maybe that level of integration is too much to hope for in Leopard. Still, a guy can dream can’t he?
