Losing My Voice

I don’t know what has been happening lately, but I have been posting less and less. The funny thing is that I hve more interesting things going on then ever. Yet, they just don’t seem to make it into posts. Here is some of what is going on:

Sabrina went with me on a trip to New York. We went up a few days early and had a ton of fun.

I am working on a project at work that may turn into a turn-key solution for a pain-in-the-ass problem. Every client I go to wants me to do this thing I have been doing and that has allowed me to get it damn close to being something they could install themselves. It is written in Java and I am really enjoying working on it.

Speaking of software development… I have been working on statzen again. While the technology is the same, the focus is shifting a little from providing stats as numbers to using analytics to provide information about what posts/articles are getting attention. One of the interesting effects of that vernacular shift is that it brought to light the idea of tracking attention to Wikis on both the reading and editing side. Neat stuff. It also means that there are plenty of days that I write Java by day and Ruby by night.

I am waffling about selling my house. Zavier got into a magnent school in our neighborhood (Lockland Design Center) so it changes the need to move a little bit. I haven’t taken the house off the market yet, but we are probably going to make that call in a week or two.

Zavier and Carter can ride bikes without training wheels now and Zavier is starting to swim without any floatation device.

The store is doing really well. With success comes an entirely new set of concerns and issues.

I still think Twitter is fun. While I don’t know any non-bloggers who are using Twitter, I think there is a market for that. I would like to get my wife Twittering.

I don’t have much time to help, but I am gassed about the possibility of Marcus putting together a BarCamp in Nashville.

I have been travelling like mad. I will hit Platinum status on everything during May. I have gotten on over 45 planes so far in 2007.

one of my favorite cars to rent is the Hunday Sonata. It is good on gas, yet it has a powerful V6. With a leather interior it would be a kick-ass compact sport sedan.

My MacBookPro with Parallels really does kick as much ass as I expected. It also gives me cred when I pull it out at a client even though they have never used a Mac.

I am watching The Sopranos out of habit. It is not as good as it used to be.

Adobe really botched the release mechanism of CS3. It is easier and faster to get it up and running illegally than it is illegally. I think iTunes owes part of it’s success to the fact that for many people it is easier to buy on iTunes than it is to steal it off something like bittorrent.

Speaking of iTunes. I am stoked about the DRM free option. Especially since the album price will be the same. It is like they built that just for me.

I wish I had been posting all this and more as regular posts over the past few weeks.
