I like what Nescoma wrote. I have a general rule that I try not to link to people whose voice I don’t want to be louder. As far as I am concerned there are some bloggers who just plain don’t exist to me. You will not see me write about them, you will not see me link to them, you will not see me comment on their blog. Unfortunately, other people do, so it is inevitable that I hear some of what they say.
Sure, these people piss me off. The thing is, they are like a 2 year old; they are adept at acting out to get the attention they want. It doesn’t matter to them if it is good attention or bad attention. Any attention is better than no attention.
So, how do you handle a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum? IGNORE THEM. Completely! They hit you? Stand out of reach and ignore them. It is hard.
My general philosophy on the internet (and with parenting) is to reward good behavior with attention and ignore bad behavior. It is hard, but it is simple. I have no use for flaimbait and I usually have the serenity to not let it get to me. (Hint: Imagining them as 2 year olds wailing on the floor makes it easier to ignore them)
Maybe the saying got misinterpreted along the way. It is not “Ignorance is bliss” it is “Ignoring twits is bliss”.
