Giving Presentations on a Mac

Wow!

Today I gave a presentation to a group of 40 IT Directors, HR Managers, etc. It was the first time I have every really given a powerpoint presentation. I was giving a presentation that Matt developed, and I added a few slides about some Java code I have written for some clients.

On a whim I decided to see if Keynote could open up PowerPoint files. When the file opened I decided to see if the remote from my MacBook Pro would work with Keynote. When it did I knew that I had found my presentation tool for today.

When I went down to plug in to the projector I learned that Keynote has this really cool feature. The presentation was displayed on the projector while my laptop screen showed the current slide, the next slide, the current time, and the time I had been giving the presentation. I don’t know if PowerPoint has that feature or not, but the people around me had never seen it.

It is no wonder that An Inconvenient Truth is such a slick and well-timed presentation. Apple has created a tool that does more than just display a presentation on a projector. They have created a tool that helps presenters do a better job.

I know that I am showing up late to this party. Now that I am giving presentations, I am just grateful that someone has thought about these things so that I don’t have to.
