To say that my uncle (Paco Shipp) is an incredible harmonica player would be a ridiculous understatement. He is also a songwriter, guitar player, and as of recently, a blogger. My dad has been working with Paco to find ways to use this whole Web2.0 thing as a way to promote his songs. Today, Paco made his first entry on YouTube:
Traditionally in Nashville, as a songwriter starts to get some traction they will rent out a venue and hold a showcase for label executives and artists who may be interested in cutting their songs. I think it is much more likely that a record exec or agent will watch a video on YouTube than they are to make it to a showcase.
It is cool to watch old dogs learn new tricks. This is the kind of power the read/write web was intended for.
If you are into this kind of music then you might want to buy Paco’s latest CD or check out his blog.
