Testing the Theory of Influencers

Wow, have you seen all of the negative press that Microsoft has been getting about their new iPod killer? I knew it was bad when Om Malik refused to review the Zune because the judge, jury, and appellate courts had already returned guilty verdicts.

The question in my mind is whether or not this means the Zune will be a total flop. If you believe in trend influencers then no one is going to touch the Zune with a 10 foot pole. But is the converse true? If the Zune turns out to be a success, what does that mean for all of the gadget reviewers (blogs, websites, CNN, etc) who all have such consensus on the suckage of the Zune?
