Writing What Readers Want

I just saw something on TechCrunch about HitTail.

a deceptively simple tool that makes suggestions for words to use in blog post titles or topics to write about based on the search terms that are already bringing people to your site.

The idea there is that writing what people come to your site looking for will increase your readership. A skeptic could say it is meant to drive more search traffic to your site, but the end result is the same.

One of the ideas behind statzen’s content metrics philosophy is that by looking at the attention given to specific pieces of content bloggers would be better able to know what their readers want. Of course I am biased, but here is why I like statzen’s approach to this problem better.
