I voted today. I didn’t vote for a single candidate that I am really excited about, but that is not the most disconcerting part. Sure, I am excited about doing my part to help the democrats take back both the House and the Senate. If/when they do it will ensure a really interesting next couple of years.
What really has me feeling uneasy is the lack of clarity about whether my vote will really count. I am sure most of you have heard that we are using 100% electronic voting machines, and that there is no paper record about the votes that are cast. I am sure most of you know that this means there is no possibility for a recount of the votes. If you are like me, that does not make me feel like democracy is working in our country.
