Moving to Typo

I am moving jaxn.org over to Typo. I like customizing my blog, but Wordpress is a cluster-fuck of PHP mixed with HTML. I moved to Wordpress because I wanted a full-featured blog. in hindsight I think Serendipity is/was the superior PHP weblog system. I had been thinking about moving back to Serendipity for a while, but since I work with Rails 40 hours a week I decided Typo makes more sense.

It will take me a little while to get everything configured for the transition, but until then I think I will just start writing over here.

update: I am testing out using MarsEdit with Typo now. So far it looks like it will work great. I probably won’t have a need to use the admin tool in Typo unless I want to attach an enclosure.

I have several more things to do before the transition can be complete.

    • add a mod_rewrite rule for the old permalinks.
    • move over categories
    • move over tags
    • copy over images
    • handle logging
    • integrate statzen feeds
    • make some changes to the templates (like removing per-post feed links
    • figure out how to make sure safari subs to the entire blog and not the specific post
