Can I have your attention please

I downloaded the 2.1 beta of NetNewsWire yesterday. If you are on a Mac and not using NetNewsWire than you are missing out. One of the coolest features of NNW2.1 is Sorting by Attention. It might not be the most obvious feature to most people but I think it is a huge step in the right direction.

Shortly after I started developing statzen I started thinking about using the feed statistics not only for the blogs that I write, but also the ones I read. If I know when a post is opened and when it is clicked through to then I have some idea about what is most important to me. Add to that when I reference a post on my own blog and when I add it to del.icio.us and you have an even more powerful system. That is the system that Brent Simmons has built into NetNewsWire.

I have just turned on sorting by attention and so far it looks pretty good. It adds further incentive to integrate blogs posting and del.icio.us posting into my aggregator. It is unfortunate that Wordpress does not capture tags from MarsEdit, but either that will happen soon or I might move to using Typo to power my weblog.

Anyway, if you use NetNewsWire you might want to check out Sorting by Attention. Just make sure you always open my posts and click through so that I stay at the top of your attention stack ;)
