Bush has now stated that the tape from Osama Bin Laden helped him beat Kerry in 2004. I would agree with Bush that the tape helped Bush win the election. I disagree as to what it means though.
“I thought it was going to help,” Bush said.
“I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn’t want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush.”
Bush thinks Osama railed against Bush because he didn’t want Bush to be president. I guess he is thinking Osama was scared of him. You probably realize that is absolute bullshit.
Osama released that tape because he was not afraid of Bush, but Bush was more likely to keep Osama in the public spotlight. Bush was also more likely to keep the American people scared of Osama.
It is important to remember that Bush let Osama get away. Bush then decided to take away from the efforts in Afghanistan and invade Iraq instead. Kerry on the other hand is a decorated war veteran who knows how to get things done. If Kerry was elected we would have caught Osama by now; the American people would no longer worry Osama.
If you ask me, this is just a further indication that Osama and Bush have the same goal: Holy War. Osama released that tape because it takes two to tango and he wants to continue this dance.
