Very Flat Taxonomy

I don’t know about you but I use the hell out of tags. I add tags whimsically. I use tags for categorization, keyword indication, and search engine optimization (but aren;t those all one in the same).

I have realized that the developers of tag plugins seem to think that bloggers will have a few tags. They may have differing opinions of what a few is, but I seem to have more than a few. Currently (prior to tagging this post) I have 739 tags in use on this site. I know the exact number because I just migrated them all over to Wordpress. I think this is a very flax taxonomy because I only started tagging 580 posts ago. That is over 1 tag per post (maybe I should see how many leaf tags I have).

I am using this great Wordpress plugin called “Ultimate Tag Warrior” (which I feel is a fitting title for me considering my prolific tagging of posts). Unfortunately, the tag cloud on my archives page only displays the most popular 50 of those tags. Does anyone know how to get that number up to say 150? Is there a “right” way to do it?

UPDATE: tagging does not seem to work from MarsEdit. that makes me sad :(
