BlogNashville: Did I Miss Much

I made the choice not to attend and thought I would share my rationale just in time to counter the glowing reviews that always follow the emotionally-intense, insular, compact experience of a conference.

BlogNashville was created because a few right-wing bloggers didn’t feel comfortable participating in the other blog conferences because they felt those conferences were a hotbed of liberal hedonism because they are located in the “liberal coasts”; nevermind that they are held in population-dense areas like most conferences and population dense areas tend to be progressive. Initially the idea was to get BloggerCon held in Nashville, but when it was realized that was not going to happen they decided to create BlogNashville. (I first heard of it here)

Then a month or two ago I started hearing about BlogNashville from other bloggers in Nashville. I looked into the conference schedule and looked to see what the line-up was going to be. It was a remarkably unremarkable conference schedule. My ears perked up a little bit when I read that Dave Winer was going to be there. Then today I read Dave’s response to attending BlogNashville. Ha!

Here is a quote from Bill Hobb’s initial post:

I think it’s time to move the discussion of blogging past the coastal/elite snobbery and into the heartland of America. Whaddayou think?

I think you guys were able to move the “discussion of blogging” from the population dense cities into the mentally dense religious south. Thank God that is over with.
