Blogging without Web2.0

WKRN (Nashville’s ABC affiliate) has launched a new blog called Nashville is Talking. Unfortunately, this is a blog that is not participating in the Web2.0 standards that make blogging more meaningful than the personal web pages of the mid 1990’s. There is an icon for an RSS feed, but it does not link to an RSS document. JavaScript is used to open all links in a new window (that is a great way to prevent meaningful indexing by search engines). There is no “alternate” meta tag for the RSS feed that I presume exists somewhere. They are not accepting TrackBacks. etc, etc, etc.

So they are going to be ignored by technorati, feedster, myYahoo, bloglines, etc. There is no way to track references to/from other blogs. And what is that abomination of an aggregator on the right side? I am all for rich web clients using JavaScript, but all that glitters is not gold.
