This is the week that I am going to release an initial release of cataBlog. I even logged in to SourceForge today to start getting ready.
I coded for a while last night. I will probably do the same again tonight. The initial release will be stable, but I will probably release it as an alpha or a beta. This is mostly due to the lack of documentation and setup/configuration tools.
I do plan to have the tools needed to setup new categories and create new blogs. the install script will probably just dump a default homepage and administration tools in. It will be up to the user to create a few categories and some sub pages (mostly just the blog tool, but the HTML and iFrame modules will probably be included.
I also plan to do a little more work on the stats page(s). I think I have it figured out how I will have a sub-sub-menu for each page in a category. This will allow surfers to go three levels deep.
My thought is that each page in a category that uses the blog tool will have several subpages. One for recent posts, one for archives, and possibly one for images or links or something. I may also have a discussion option.
It would also be nice if I could create a search engine for the site, but that may have to way for a point upgrade (or two).
I will of course write more as I get to it.
