Marathon Training Week 6

I am still planning to run Rock&Roll San Diego, and will still shoot for an aggressive time goal. In order to do that I am going to have to take good care of my right leg/foot for a while.

On Friday I went to Results Physiotherapy to see about my achilles. Turns out my achilles it fine. It is my hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, quads, calfs, foot muscles, toe tendons, and anything having to do with shock absorption, propulsion, or stabilization. Basically my right side is screwed. Luckily my left side is slightly better off.

Then I woke up this morning with my foot looking broken. I didn’t run at all over the weekend, so I have no idea how this happened. I had another appointment at Results so I went there. It seems like it isn’t broken, but I am feeling pretty discouraged.

Part of me wonders if I have reached the apex of what my body is capable of. I am trying to keep perspective and realize that I have gone from zero running to being competitive in local races in the span of two years. My body may just need more time to adjust to the stress. I don’t feel like I have a lot of time since age is catching up with me, but this is where I am.

I got some miles in last week, but not many. I am going to try to get more miles in this week, but they all need to be short and easy runs.

Hi, my name is Jackson and I am “injury prone.”
