So apparently the Alaskan pipeline has been shut down indefinitely. Oil prices will rise again, but nobody seems sure just how much. The thing that first struck me about this is that Gore spoke of predictions in An Inconvenient Truth where the pipelines would break as a result of permafrost thawing. I wonder if that is what happened here?
It is times like these that I am grateful that the majority of my driving is done on a motorcycle that gets 50+ miles per gallon. That means that if gas goes up $1 per gallon I would end up paying $15 per week instead of $12 per week in gas. I would pay twice that much in my Altima.
