Jeff Jarvis has joined. the growing numbers of bloggers who are looking for a change in blog templates.

Now, I don’t think that Jarvis is thinking very far outside of the box. Everything he mentions is already being done in many different blog systems. I don’t think that changing the template based on categories is the way to go at all, but providing a visual distinction between different types of content is something that is going to have to happen. I know I am starting to sound like a broken record, but Squible and Asides are closer to what Jarvis is looking for than existing templates.

I am starting to feel like Squible is not enough. I have some very concrete ideas about how it can be improved upon, but I am going to keep that close to the chest for now

I do think that we will see some serious innovations come out of the WordPress 2.0 Theme Contest. Who knows, maybe I will be represented.
